A cancelled payment occurs when a payment attempt is initially processed but later cancelled. This can happen for various reasons and does not necessarily affect your booking or reservation. If you have concerns about your reservation status, we recommend contacting your booking website for confirmation.
Common Reasons for Cancelled Payments:
- Reservation Status: When you book a property, the homeowner may choose to confirm or decline the reservation. In some cases, they may also cancel a previously confirmed reservation. If this happens, an automatic email notification is sent to inform you that the payment has been cancelled.
- Pre-Authorizations: The homeowner may perform a pre-authorization payment to verify that the card information provided is valid and that the card account is active. For example, a $1.00 payment may be used to verify card details before processing the full booking payment. Once the card is successfully verified, this transaction is cancelled, and you will receive an email notification confirming the cancellation.
Does a Cancelled Payment Affect My Reservation?
Receiving a cancelled payment notice does not automatically mean your reservation is affected. Because payment and reservation systems vary, it’s best to contact your booking website directly for confirmation, they can provide specific information about your reservation and assist you with any necessary payments.
